☄ First Impressions

♚ VISUAL: Jintetsu's a young Japanese man, short enough that people often remark he's "just a kid." The first thing most people notice, though, is his expressionless steel mask; of his real face, only his left eye is visible. He does not let anyone see under the mask. His hair is straight, black, and long, though he wears it tied back. His right eye (or what's left of it) is hidden by both his bangs and a white cloth he keeps tied around his head.

His left arm is mechanical, with some steampunky bits and bobs on it. It's unclear whether they do anything or are just for the #aesthetic. His body is covered in combat-related scars.

He's rarely, if ever, encountered without his katana (Haganemaru). If you look closely, though, the sword has a startlingly realistic hazel eye set in the pommel, and it is definitely watching you.



♚ FASHION: He's into function over form. A simple Japanese-style shirt, simple pants, a well-worn cloak; that's good enough. There's a few oddities, though: the European gunbelt he carries Haganemaru in, the Western-style boots, and the wide straw hat that for some reason has a big screw sticking out of it.

♚ DEMEANOUR: Jintetsu is an introvert's introvert. Though he's okay at carrying on conversations, he doesn't go out of his way to start them. At parties or other events, he sticks to the wall. Walking down the street, he avoids making eye contact with passersby, hiding under his hat. He often sticks to shadowy places and back alleys out of habit, and keeps actively aware of his surroundings as much as possible.

♚ AURAL: Most people don't notice this, but when he talks, the voice is actually coming from his sword. On the rare occasion he doesn't have Haganemaru with him, he doesn't speak at all. When he thinks no one's listening, he can sometimes be heard talking to himself (though this is actually Haganemaru talking to him).

Note: I don't use any special formatting to distinguish between Jintetsu's words and Haganemaru's, since it's the exact same voice. It should usually be discernible from context, but it's also okay if it's ICly confusing to the listener.

He keeps his mechanical arm well-oiled, so it doesn't make much noise. He doesn't make much noise in general, actually, as he's used to keeping out of sight.

♚ OLFACTORY: He usually smells of trail dust and camellia oil (to prevent rust). Other than that, though, he keeps fairly clean when he can.

♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Because they're so closely connected, someone trying to read his mind would pick up both his thoughts and those of his sword, Haganemaru.

♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Jintetsu's super cursed, for anyone sensitive to that sort of thing. His sword probably gives off a similar aura, though its exact nature would be unclear at present. He's deeply steeped in death, having died once and also killed a shitload of people.



☄ OOC

♚ BACKTAGGING: I like to boomerang from time to time, so HMU at caturday if you want to find a time to just hang out and do that! But obviously I'll backtag, too, especially if it's just for funsies and not something that would drastically change future threads.

♚ FOURTHWALLING: Nah, I don't think it'd serve a purpose. Future history spoilers are fine, though.

♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Go for it. He's very, very not used to it and it would be hilarious.

♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Go for it! He doesn't generally start fights (unless he's being paid to), but he'll finish them.

♚ RELATIONSHIPS: I don't know that he's ready for one, and it'd be hella awkward with Third Wheel Haganemaru involved. That said, I would love to play out dealing with that awkwardness. Functional relationships are for squares amirite?
